Qxtender - User Guide - Overview
- Qxtender houses Plugins that perform various tasks such as producing state payroll tax forms. Plugins can be installed and updated as needed. This provides for easy and efficent enhancements to capabilities with minimal download times.
- Qxtender (and its Plugins) can get the necessary data from QuickBooks in several ways:
DIRECT MODES:
- In QB Integrated Application Mode, Qxtender connects to the QuickBooks Integrated Applications
interface and retrieves data from the currently open company file. Currently supports QuickBooks versions
2004-2012 and Enterprise 4.0-12.0.
- In QB Application Controller Mode, Qxtender controls the QuickBooks or QuickPayroll application
and retrieves data from the currently open company file. Currently supports QuickBooks versions
2006-2012, Enterprise 6.0-12.0, and QuickPayroll (r11).
- In QB Direct File Mode, Qxtender retrieves data directly from your QB company data file.
Supports QuickBooks versions through 2005, including Enterprise
versions through 5.0.
OTHER MODES:
- In Export Mode, Plugins read data files exported from QB & QuickPayroll (and other formats in some cases). Currently supports QuickBooks versions through QB 2012, Enterprise versions through 11.0, and QuickPayroll.
- In Manual Data Entry Mode, no data is imported.
Not all Plugins currently support all Data Modes. Please see the Plugin pages for information on which Data Modes are supported.
- We suggest that you try the direct modes first. You can switch methods at any time.
Plugins will automatically use the data mode you have set in Qxtender.
You can change Qxtender's default startup settings for this in
the "Preferences.." menu item on the File Menu.
- Qxtender also manages features common to all Plugins such as
Printer Setup, Print Preview and Printing.
